Charlie began his career at a traditional Bordeaux salon for grandma's, and after next spending his early teenage years at a punk salon, aged 16 Charlie went on to excel at the French Hair Academy in Paris.
Next in Berlin, he established himself as 'resident hairdresser' at the city's coolest nightclubs and private champagne suites, growing a regular clientele of celebrities and musicians.
A pioneer of the pop-up hair salon, he began to creating signature hairstyles ranging from trashy to chic, classic to unique.
In 2008 Charlie moved his pop-up hair salon to London, and as his creative editorial work flourished, he soon gained his reputation as one of the city's most exclusive and innovative new hair stylists.
After featuring in Vogue Russia, Elle, French Vogue and being selected as the Observer’s 22nd coolest person, Charlie decided to take hairstyling to the next level, and launched his first wig collection at London Fashion Week,
surprising London’s fashion scene with his dramatic sculptural wigs.
Charlie now spends his time working between fashion editorials, commercial projects, and his haute-coiffure catwalk shows of wigs at London and Paris fashion weeks.
Hair editorial publications have included Numero, Bullet Magazine, Dazed and Confused, I-D and The Times. His clientele has included Lady Gaga, Peaches, Kap Bambino, Ayumi Hamasaki, MIA and the B52s.
Furthermore, his work has been featured in publications such as Vogue Italy,
Vogue Hommes Japan, i-D and The Guardian, has been exhibited at the V&A, Fondation Cartier and Boghossian Foundation, as well as special projects including Showstudio, Colette, Disneyland Paris and Nokia.
Charlie Le Mindu will also soon be opening his flagship location at London's super salon, Urban Retreat at Harrods.
He also continues to increase his artistic collaborations including L’Oréal Professionnel; for which he has created exclusive hairstyles for the global campaign of the styling product 'Super Style Heroes'.
